PPC is good however I'm looking for places where I can pay once and have a good referer to get visits from. I vaguely remember you can pay to get into a couple of medium or major se and directories.

Can someone recommend any?

MSN Search is offering flat fee ppc. However, you have to run an annual campaign and hte minimum is pretty high.

I would only recommend it for offers where you receive a very high conversion and are looking for very good coverage (i.e. guaranteed top 3 placements on search results)

Good luck!

Paid inclusion / placemet works well in targeted niche directories and "local portals" - look for sites that are actually paying for advertising in your target market and with other PPC engines - AdWords etc... watch them and make sure they are consistent and have been around for awhile...

In directory type search engines look for quality and content - you can often reserve top positions.

A good Paid inclusion site will give you traffic value over 12 months in the vicinity of $.40-$1.20 per visitor - comparing with Google Adwords that's not too bad depending on your target market... we have some clients using Paid inclusion that get $.07 per visitor in highly targeted categories...
