In the pursuit of fresh ways to expose more visitors to a website, what channels do people use to drive targetted, relevant traffic to a site.
Besides SEO, PPC, email/direct mail to past customers, buying banner ads, renting lists...any other great ideas?
I'm not talking about trickle-traffic here - I'm talking huge numbers of visitors. Anything obvious I'm missing from the lineup?

There is a reason that they are called secrets.
I bet I could charge $1000 to tell people how they could get hundreds of thousands of page views from real targeted traffic to their site at a very minimal cost and people would be lining up. But then it would not be a secret anymore. I think I will just keep it to myself and enjoy the ride.

Traffic comes from two places, clicking links or typing it in. The former could be banner, text ad, web page, email, viral, MMS, etc etc, the latter is becoming a memorable brand, word of mouth, real world advertising, articles, press releases, getting on the 10 o'clock news etc.

Keep your eyes and ears open and remember where you learned of new sites etc, the tactics you employ are endless from the mundane writing an article to the bizarre like tatooing a persons forehead. What's right for your brand and market can only be decided by your instincts and testing.
