How to rank well on secondary keywords

Hello!

I have several affiliate sites for different products. I do SEO mostly for the product name , eg "widget product" (almost all are 2 keyword searches)

Now, what would be the best way to go for more keywords like "buy widget product", "widget product information", "cheap widget product" etc - should i create separate pages and optimize them for each term? But then the navigation would like kind of spammy with all those KW combinations as anchor text and i don't want to push the KW density on the home page for the main term.

Or should i just go for lots of links to the homepage with the new keywords as anchor?

What would you pros suggest?

Once you get a number one ranking and feel that you are mostly safe there you should go for your secondary keywords in the anchor text.

This is the best way IF you CAN get links to that page, also creating more web pages will give your site a better theme in the search engine's eyes.
