Do the SE's give any more or less power/weight to a link that opens a new window.

No, it's the same thing; they show in backlinks the same way.

hummm... so backlinks (pr4 and above on google) show the same way but each backlink has different power (PR). All the backlinks look alike but don't necessarily have the same power. So, do you think a backlink is a backlink? Or, could it be that the SE's feel that a link that does not open a new window is more important than a link that does open the new window?

Sorry I am being so thick-headed about this... I understand that the backlinks SHOW the same way. In the backlinks, a backlink from a pr7 LOOKS/SHOWS the same way as a link from a pr9 site. But they do NOT have the same power. Also, a text link that is an H1 tag has more POWER than a text link with a tiny font size (assuming they are both coming from the same page).
What I really mean to ask is... Do the SE's give more POWER to a link that does not open a new window vs. a link that does?

I don't know... but I don't think it is important. First, I don't see a reason why Google should treat these links differently and second, even if they did the difference compared to other factors would be marginal and therefore neglectable.
