I don’t use tools for a number of reasons.

1.Some of the tools use a lot of bandwidth from the SE’s and they leave a very visible trail for the SE to recognize. I am sure that there have been examples of blocking of IP addresses for use of these tools.
2.I simply don’t trust tools where I can’t verify exactly what they do and who they report to. Luckily for me I don’t have to check up on a huge number of websites, so I do all my checking by hand.

If I were to check a large number of websites, I would consider writing my own tool to do the checking. I’m sure it is quit doable in Perl

I have tried several different tools and WebPosition Gold 2.0 seems to be the best.
