For SEO, I understand the importance of using themes across pages of a site, but should heading tags be used to coninue the process of subcategorizing the content of a site? Can someone tell me if the following is a good model to use when building a site?

level-1(index.html)
__level-2(vehicles.html)
____level-3(cars.html)
______level-4(sports-cars.html)
________level-5(expensive-sports-cars.html & <h1>Expensive Sports Cars</h1>)
__________level-6(<h2>Expensive Sports Car Engines</h2>)
____________level-7(<h3>Expensive Sports Car Engine Maintenance</h3>)
____________level-7(<h3>Expensive Sports Car Engine Parts</h3>)
__________level-6(<h2>Expensive Sports Car Transmissions</h2>)
________level-5(cheap-sports-cars.html & <h1>Cheap Sports Cars</h1>)
______level-4(luxury-cars.html)
____level-3(trucks.html)
__level-2(computers.html)

I wouldn't use to many headings. And if you have enough content split it up in multiple sites. It's easier to optimize and easier to read as well.

That's been my experience with it. The link structure of the site seems to be all important, and most of the traffic off the search engines has been from the highest level heading tag, title, etc. It's almost as if including the other tags results in a loss of traffic.

Yeah, because the content looks less relevant. If a page is dedicated to one topic it's probably more relevant and more likely to be displayed imho. You see, it even makes sense for a non-SEO point of view.

Thomas,

Are you saying that including multiple heading tags or varying the pages content somewhat seems to produce unfavorable results in your experience?
