I found this thread:

[webmasterworld.com...]

but it seems like its pretty old and I was wondering if their is new relevant resources around in regards to optimizing dynamic content. Or does the above thread still apply?

The thread's not really up to date.

Google can crawl urls with up to 2 dynamic variables quite nicely. Make sure you don't serve a session id to Googlebot. You can also rewrite the dynamic urls to appear static.

Thanks rmjvol.

We are able to rewrite the urls into a static format, but the problem we have is linking to them. They're product pages and the dynamic URL variable is just a product id number. We could link to each page through some type of link that spiders will follow and index, but I'm concerned about the ethical implications of this.

Would those product pages essetially be seen as doorway pages?

Mac, thanks for the link to the redirecting thread.
I dont have a problem creating these pages as static ones but I would just like to be able to link to the books in a legitimate manner. What's the best way to get this done?

I too would like something simple enough that I can understand it without 2 months of research.
