Forum Moderators: open
We've changed a domain name 2 weeks ago. At the same day put 301 permanent redirect to the new domain. Playing by the rules :)
I've read a lot that PR from the old domain should eventually be transfered to the new one. The PR of the new domain is still blank. However, Google has paid a few visits.
So I was wondering, how long does it usually take to get back the PR? And How long should I wait till making any moves (for example, contacting Google support team)
One more question: Do you think permanently removing the old website from the google index will speed up this process?
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Nova
Welcome on board!
It's best just to sit tight and wait - or better: forget about PR. It may take months for the visible PR to update. Don't worry, this doesn't mean anyhing for your rankings. Even with a PR 0 or gray bar you can rank well and that's what matters - unless you sell links based on PR of course.
This topic is raised frequently in the Google News forum. Since and we consider that a more "more appropriate" venue, I'm going to lock this thread and encourage you to read and possibly post in Google.
FYI, each forum has a "tag line" at the top of it's main page and a "charter." These provide some guidance as to the topics the forum entertains. Occasionally, a topic just doesn't fit anywhere! In that case, do the best you can. :)
Again, welcome!
