I am trying to convince my bosses that getting on every dinky search engine is not necessary.

I am looking for real numbers that show him that most internet users go for one of a handful of search engines.

I am trying to impart to him that if we had a presence on just Google and Yahoo alone that we would be in great shape.

Can anyone point me to meaningful stats on this subject?

Here are some results for a 6500 page site across a few million searches. You might want to add MSN/Looksmart/Inktomi to the mix.

Freefind is the local site specific search.

All the above - plus, you might ask him how many search engines *he* uses when he wants to find something on the internet. It works every time :)
