When I do a search for a certain keyword with Google there shows up a site in the top 10 which has nothing to do with that keyword.
That site uses the keyword two times in a image file name insite a table on top of the body.

I don't think this is a mistake of Google, because that site is on the 4th place for that keyword for 3 years now.

Is this the way to get a higher ranking for a certain keyword?

does the site have backlinks, from high PR or Relevant sites.

Is "anchor Text" from these links the same as "keyword"

Jeffry, does it have an ODP listing with the keyword in the title or description?

It may be that there links to it with the keyword in the anchor text, so you may want to check backlinks for it. link:www.example.com

Yes, they have backlinks, but not related to that keyword.
And the site has just one outbound link to a Yahoo shop.

No ODP listing.

do a "keyword" search on Google, scroll down and click on "Cached" next to the URL of the listing.

what does it say?

1, These search terms have been highlighted?
2, These terms only appear in links pointing to this page?

No search terms highlighted and terms only appear in links pointing to this page.
This link is a inbound link pointing to the index page of the site.

Marcia, would't be more easy for all that I post the keyword?

Jeffry,

I would not post the keyword/phrase.

Maybe you could tell us how many results Goolge shows on that search. It could be that it is not very competitive.

Also, it could be that there are numerous < PR4 backlinks not showing in Google, but visible with an Alltheweb backlink check.

I think I got it.
They are listed in the Yahoo directory with that keyword and only that keyword in the title.
Which I don't understand as that keyword is related to that site as water is related to fire.

So, a little resume:

Put two pictures with the name of your keyword in a table on top of your page and in top of the body. Don't use that keyword anywhere else in your page.
Hyperlink those pictures to your page, get a listing in the Yahoo directory with only that keyword in the title and you are sure getting a high ranking in Google.

Easy no?
