Google has removed many pages of my site

what can be the possible reason?

Hi,

3 months back, when I used to make search in google with "site:mysite.com" it was showing more than 100000 results, but now I get only 12000 results. and this result keep fluctuating on daily basis. Today it will show 12000 and next day it will show 18000.

What can be the possible reason. My site is not an article site, it's a kind of social networking site.

Check whether pages have duplicate or similiar Titles and/or Meta tags, and whether they have little content.
