Hi, mates!

Is there a way to check the number of the directories in which a particular site has been added? It would be great to have such an information about my competition, but I apprehend that it's just not possible. Still, I decided to ask you.

Thanks,

Nick

I don't know about directories specifically. But I often use Yahoo! Site Explorer to see the back links into my competitors and go to the same or similar sites, including directories.

Yeah, i would concur that the Yahoo site explorer is probably the best tool for searching, although you'll have to do a bit of manual work to determine which of those links are directories and which aren't. I find it's a good practice to research your competitors on a regular basis with the site explorer tool. You can usually find good sites that you weren't previously linked to.
