Some recent comment I noticed includes *not* to use the automatic rank checking feature of WebPositionGold to check the rank of your site in Google as this may result in a penalty being applied to your domain.
HTH
I was probably one of the first WPG users back in the days, right when I started in SEO. There was a lot of useful information in the various functions of the program. At that time, it was a valid tool to use.
I can't say the same is true today. With Google hard on the heels of WPG users, I would probably recommend that you learn the old fashioned way, through trial and error (hopefully with a lot less error!).
Spend a month reading here at Webmaster World and you'll be leaps and bounds ahead of those who rely on the program to manage SEO campaigns which it is not capable of doing in a users hands who does not have the basic knowledge of the industry.
Your better off studying the SERP's (Search Engine Results Pages) and mimicking the design and structure of those top ranking sites. If you are solely interested in Google, you will also need to figure out the inbound and outbound links of those sites.
Mark_A--I will do some searching and then some researching on the matter.
davaddavad--I have been doing submissions by hand and that does seem to be working so far, Thanks.
pageoneresults--I agree with you that a general progression through SEO cannot be beaten for the best way to understand and create successful strategies. I will continue with my submissions to all major directories and attempt to optimize our web sites for Google.
But I suppose it is just keeping yopur finger on the manic pulse of the SE world that will determine hoew one fares in this dynamic and unpredictable environment
