First let me say I'm just an amature but have managed to get my sites very high on most SE's

A friend in business has just had an all singing all dancing site built, the builders have used dotnetnuke? never heard of them before, I guess it's a CMS of some type.

He is having trouble getting it listed anywhere and asked for any pointers I could give.

The site URL is www.example.com but when you navagate further instead of getting www.example.com/nextpage.aspx the address bar reads something like ....

Now I have no idea how dotnetnuke works but would the above URL change affect getting placed in the SE's

Any thoughts greatly apreciated.

Thanx Steve.

P.S they were listed previously with their plain html coded site.

What you would want to consider is what the URLs are communicating to the search engines. That is why html or similar page setups are so important because the page names are not just a random cID number. This can be fixed however but I am not familiar with dotnetnuke however.

It sounds like your friend has gone for a hosted option so once someone goes to his site they are redirected off to a completely different URL.. this is terrible for SEO, he needs to at least get a full domain mapping solution sorted if possible, either that or scrap the site and start again and ensure his entire site stays on his own domain
