I imagine a few of those papers could be gold mines. I just wish I had enough time and patience to wade through them.

If anyone has any recommendations about good papers or bad papers regarding seo research then please post your thoughts. In particular I was thinking about reading one or more of the following papers you linked to:

2) Web Page Scoring Systems for Horizontal and Vertical Search
3) Optimal Crawling Strategies for Web Search Engines
4) Accelerated Focused Crawling through Online Relevance Feedback
5) Paid Placement Strategies for Internet Search Engines

Quick edit - After posting this message I saw a few people had already started threads on paper 1) and paper 5). I guess those are the ones I will read first.
