I am particularly interested in Brett_Tabke‘s theme pyramid in this post. [webmasterworld.com...]
Let me use one of my sites as an example: onlineletterhead.com
The site makes email stationery like a “company letterhead” for email - online with no program download.
The idea is visitors make Free ones, feel comfortable using email stationery and then pay us to make them custom stationery containing their logo etc.
The free stationery is also “Word of Mouth Marketing” as it contains a link to our website.
So the keywords we went for are
Free, business, email, letterhead, stationery
I’m not expecting to be ranked high using one of these keywords in isolation, I can’t see my site on page one is you search for “Business” for instance.
So I’m looking at 2, 3 4 keyword phrases.
To strengthen my keyword prominence and generate backlinks I’m implementing a new system which I’m calling Instant link blocks.
The idea is to turn my site into a mini directory and therefore a “hub” for my specific theme.
On my main page I have introduced a menu themed to each keyword / phrase each one links to a page containing 25 blocks where visitors can place links “Instantly” to related websites.
I will use the “Instant link block” system to carefully place links to the top “authority and hub” sites for my theme. Then approach the sites especially “hub” sites and try to get back links.
This is my question:
Brett’s pyramid is geared towards sites with lots of content or products, my site has one product and a tool. So for me the pyramid seems upside down my “money” page is near the top. Have I got it all wrong or what?
Also: analysing the google sandbox [#*$!.com...] tool and summing all the results it seems that my sites theme is “letterhead” and the semantic database is attributing letterhead to mean paper, printing, stationery, envelopes, etc. Email is never mentioned. Will having an “Email” block page help this or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Sorry for the long post but I think I may be loosing the plot here.
