Hi,

The Higher-Ups want to add some news articles to the site that are sorted and provided/fed by a company called "Yellowbrix".

Although hosted on our site, the content is none the less pulled from a number of sources including newspapers and wire feeds.

It is possible for the article to be on, say, the newspapers site, the wire feed site, and potentially hundreds of other "YellowBrix" subscribers sites.

My question is, what will be the duplicate content punishment we could recieve, if any?

Your particular url with the news article may be filtered out of search results specific to the topic -- but that's not the same as being penalized. All the rest of your domain will just keep on cooking, and your users get the added benefit of your feed content.

Duplicate content won't generate any traffic. Moreover it can redirect your traffic to other sites.

Traffic needs to be generated by other means.

By using duplicate content on that way you are going to confuse the SE robots, a search engine may penalize you using dup content.
