What should i do to stay in the ranking

hi,
i would like to know once i get a page ranking, what can be done to sustain that ranking. for eg; for a keyowrd like cycle if my site is coming up in the third position in google on the first page, what should i do to sustain that position or to imrpove on it. One method i know is through clickthroughs, what else can be done. please let me know cause i have just started the research on search engine just 4 months back.thank u

Work on your link popularity the more the better perhaps set up a resources page offering links with other sites within the same or other industries

I'm sure others will come up with some more tips
