Apologies if this should be in domain names but it relates more to search engine optimization

I read conflicting opinions (elsewhere) about whether or not a domain name's TLD and SLD are relevant to search engines. Of the two, I am more interested in the SLD right now.

If this has been covered in a previous thread...pls advise.

Thank you.

Neither the TLD nor SLD contribute to ranking better on the search engine. If you are trying to build a top quoity name brand site the SLD is important because people trust good short meaningfull domains so they link to it more. If you are just putting up a kw-kw.com site then it has nothing to do with it. It only matters if real humans are going to link to your site becasue they like it because they just don't link to spammy sites. When they do link to it they will give it the anchor text of the sites name. Like Webmaster World for www.webmasterworld.com. Brett gets the kw Webmaster in his links.
