Having managed to get the obnoxious Twiceler bot stopped after sucking my bandwidth dry for a month, I notice that somthing owned by Cogentco si trying the same, admittedly "only" once an hour:

38.**.**.34 - - [16/Jun/2008:15:04:04 +0100] "GET someURL" 304 - "-" "Python-urllib/2.4"
38.**.**.34 - - [16/Jun/2008:16:03:58 +0100] "GET someURL" 304 - "-" "Python-urllib/2.4"

On closer inspection, the IP address is one of cuill.com's and I shall be banning them all again tonight. I honestly don't have anything that significant on my web sites so can't understand whether it's just bad not programming or they know something I don't!

Be warned, they're out to get you and they don't show ID!

peterg22 they are well known, just read through the "Search Engine Spider Identification" forum threads here and you'll find many more bots that you wouldn't want to visit your site ;o)
