Return of Yahoo! Slurp/3.0

Last seen from Inktomi

I just spotted this old user-agent in the logs, making requests from an old Inktomi (now Yahoo!) address range:

74.6.22.161 - - [25/Nov/2007:08:42:16 -0500] "GET /events/ HTTP/1.0" 403 666 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Yahoo! Slurp/3.0; [help.yahoo.com...]

(Note that the page request was denied with a 403-Forbidden because no links exist to this URL, and directory index requests are not allowed on this server.)

This request was preceded by a robots.txt file request from the same IP address, but using the 'standard' Slurp user-agent string:

74.6.22.161 - - [25/Nov/2007:08:41:11 -0500] "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.0" 200 3124 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Yahoo! Slurp; [help.yahoo.com...]

Anyway, this looks like a legitimate request from a very old pre-Yahoo version of Inktomi's Slurp/3.0, originating from a 'normal' Yahoo! IP address range. I haven't seen Slurp/3.0 since back in 2000 or 2001!

Confirmed. The first re-appearance of Slurp/3.0 in my logs was also on 19-November.
