Is using less pages better for SEO?

I have 300 products. Each product has 5 pages which contain the following

details.html - description and tech specs of the product
reviews.html - reviews of the product
downloads.html - downloads for the product
wheretobuy.html - where to buy the product

Now I would like to merge all the pages into one page details.html. This will look like [mysite.com...]

Is this a good idea? All the current pages are pretty much listed, show up in SERPS and have a low PR. I want to merge them together to merge the PR and make my site smaller.

I was curious if this is a good idea.

if you think that by doing this you will 'merge' and therefore increase your pr then you are mistaken.

i personally would never remove indexed and ranking pages intentionally.

I would setup a 301 redirect. Is it still not a good idea?

I'm finding not all of my product pages are indexed. I have a sitemap and use Google Sitemap but still not all pages are indexed. The ones that are aren't ranked very high.

Since it's probably better the way it is for SEO purposes, you should consider the human visitors and what works best for them. I think that should guide your decision.

I have a site with roughly the same number of pages, of which the majority are individual product pages.

I look at that number of pages as diversifying my search engine results. If the Acme XYZ widget page drops in rankings, there's still hundreds and hundreds of other pages that are ranked highly.

For me, it all goes back to Brett Tabke's comment that he'd rather have 50 pages that get one view each rather than one page that gets 50 views.
