Hi,

I am working for a travel site since the last 6 months still my site is nowhere in the SERPs.Can anyone let me know how long does it takes for a site to come up in SERPs? And What are the factors involved?

If you are talking about google, my page shows only 15 backlinks (which showed up only today), and has been up for about 8 months and still does not show up for any keywords i am going for, but already shows up for a few on msn (and in the top 3 on a few occasions). Apparently there is an "aging delay" that keeps new sites from appearing in the serps for a few months on google.

what can be done, ask me not!

genny, what tigger said.

Also, is the site ranking in any of the major SE's? If so, is it ranking for important keywords, or just longer tail phrases (3+ word searches)?

You can actually get and keep rank within a day of buying a domain assuming you can get some quality links into the site. I have got top tens or many keywords and managed to keep them from day 1. Doesnt always happen however and the "sandbox" effect as it is called can play a part in geneal positions. Just keep a watchful eye on whats happening and try to get 1 quality link a day. Make sure you use different anchor text so Google doesnt think anything 'fishy' is going on and you will be okay.
