Hi Everyone!

This is my first post on WW and i was hoping for a bit of help.

I have been asked by a customer to have a look at 8 of his Travel related websites and point out the places were he can improve for better traffic and SE placement. I am a newbie to the SEO world and i know there is alot of different angles to look at as well as many different areas.

I was hoping you guys could provide me with the right info or tools to perform an all round test on each site.....bringing light on the Problems or issues to be addressed.

Also any other tips or tricks you might have.

Thanks in advance for the Help!

Hello and welcome.

Sorry to say that I don't rely on one single tool for evaluation of a website. I use the knowledge I gained here and my experience as an SEO to decide what needs to be done. There are a few tools out there which can evaluate external links and the site's current positioning. There are also several SEO evaluation tools out there which will evaluate a site for you, but I've never been happy with their results. Run a Google search on SEO site evaluation tools and you should come up with some.

Good luck!

I find that there are some tools that help, but mostly it is knowing what to look for, starting with keywords.

For keywords: What keywords is the existing site targeting, if any? And what keywords should they be targeting? Tools such as WordTracker, and the Google and Overture keyword tools are very helpful when researching keywords. Also, if they have done any PPC advertising, the PPC reports can give you insight into what keywords might work well.

I once started working on a website and couldn't get the internal search engine to index it. It turns out there was a lot of bad HTML and the search engine was choking on it. I find the W3C online HTML validator to be very helpful in straightening out this type of problem.

I like the Xenu link checker for finding broken links.

No offense but it is going to take more than just tools and software to get what you need. I know people who specialize in SEO 24/7 to try and find the tips and tricks but unfortunately its not that easy. Like mentioned I suggest you do a lot of reading here that will definitely help.

Thanks Guys!

Ive just tried out web CEO and it seems pretty usefull. The ranking report alone has helped me alot along with the KW research tool.

This site is Excellent! Is it worth while to become a member of the supporters forum? Will it help me out at this early stage or should i familiarise myself first.

Another thing guys if any of you guys know of a good travel affiliate program worthwhile could you sticky me with the URL.

Thanks
