I work for a company that is looking to diversify their marketing efforts and ensure that we have all bases covered. We currently use:

- Overture
- Google (AdWords)
- FindWhat

We also have a newsletter with about several thousand subscribers that we mail about once a month.

My question is:

What other avenues do we need to pursue in regards to lesser-known search engines, or alternative advertising, (i.e. ebay, overstock, etc.)

Thanks, This is an absolutely amazing forum with so much information

Yahoo banners can be very targeted (you can target them based on multiple factors) and work well in many cases.

Targeted banners on other sites can have a positive ROI.

MSN has a PPC program, but the min spend is pretty high (and it's all done by IOs, no self signup).

For eCommerce, the shopping engines, eBay, eBay stores, etc can work (always track your results).

Without knowing your goals (branding, on site readers, newsletter subscribers, downloads, user subscriptions (i.e. dating sites et al), eCommerce, etc -- there is no real answer.

All depends on your demographics and market.

Thanks for the info.

We have a couple of items that we track. We are in a business where we are trying to advertise so that people will call us so that we will be able to sell them then, not so much actually purchasing on our site. Have been looking at some of the smaller search engines so far.

Any other major engines I'm missing?

Thanks!
