Right column, i have a table of Downloads. The anchor text has great keywords describing the .pdf or ppt file. But once a user clicks on the file, they go to a download form so we can capture their info as a Lead. So this file can not be getting indexed? Can it?
If it can, greattttttttt. But if it can't, is there away around this?
Thanks for any help!
So this file can not be getting indexed?
Which file are you referring to? And, are you attempting to get the pdf and ppt files indexed? I think maybe the original question may not be clear enough.
Your form will get indexed if there is a link to it from another page. The pdf and ppt files will also get indexed if there is a visible (spiderable) link to them (Google and others).
A downside here is, if you're allowing googlebot to download them, the full documents will be directly available to savvy google users without needing to fill out the form. (may not be an issue)
Another downside is you are delivering different content to google than you would to an end user. This is frowned upon by google, possibly others.
*You would also have to make the bot exception for any other bots you'd like to have the content indexed on.
