Hello SEO Webmsater World friends,
Is fewer folders better for SEO?
Or say as an example:
example.com/merchant/nike
Or
example.com/nike
the goal being of course to position yourself well on nike (it's just an example)

the shorter the better?
(I know that the notion of depth is also important)
or the fact that I sort my site by merchant/site is a good indicator for our friend google?
As always with Seo "it depend" :I can't find any sources that settle this question.
Thank you in advance for your help and kindness.

Keywords in urls are only a small part of SEO.

Personally keep things on the short side, but always use what is needed to make the structure and storage sane for myself!

SEO should exist where it is most needed ON THE CONTENT.

It isn't the number (or lack of) folders that Google likes, it is User Experience - see this article: [webmasterworld.com...]

If your visitors can easily find what they expect to find and your site loads quickly, your SEO is good.

When it comes to SEO, shorter URLs like example.com/nike can be beneficial. It's more user-friendly and easier to remember. But depth and organization matter too. Keep it clean and user-centric!
