That seemed like an awfully high number. I checked a few other reputable website and they had 2 or 3!

Here are the ones they listed:

Appnexus
Adform
eXelate
BlueKai
Cross Pixel
Lotame
Quantcast
Google Adsense
Simpli.fi
Doubleclick
Rubicon
Casale Media
Lijit Networks
PulsePoint
Advertising.com
SpotXchange
Adify
MediaMath
The Trade Desk
OwnerIQ
Turn
PubMatic
AdTech AOL
Aggregate Knowledge
LiveRamp, Inc.
Adobe AudienceManager

Is there a way to get rid of all of them except for Google AdSense and DoubleClick?

Thanks!

Not sure about all of them, but it appears they are just cookies resulting from the various advertisers from Google AdSense and DoubleClick.

Avast and similar tools make it sound threatening to bolster their importance. There are many types of tracking. Not all malicious. Your advertisers do it to see where the users come from. Without it you wouldn't get paid.

keyplyr, thank you so much. I appreciate your taking the time to answer. I won't worry about it now. I just keep looking in every nook and cranny to try to improve the site. :)

How is that report generated? At what stage? Is it YOUR site and your site only that had that number? What are you using to view that report?

If these show only when visiting your site then look to all the ad, af, and third party you have installed on the site. Only you as webmaster can control that side of things.

If, on the other hand, you are viewing this report after surfing the web for a bit, then it is accumulated from that activity and is NOT your site.

Depending on your browser of choice you can change settings to disallow all third party (that includes tracking cookies) without "breaking everything". If you really want to control your experience then install NoScript for Firefox which will allow you to select which tracking cookies or js scripts you will accept and deny the rest.

But if YOUR site is dong this and not others, and YOU did not install all those yourself as a webmaster, then you may have other problems, such as a hacked site.

An alternative method to check your site would be installing Ad Block Plus and see what it reports in real time.

Thread OP says their site is guilty, just trying to find out what's being asked. If Avast says their website is reporting these then OP must have installed them all, or the host has, or the site has been hacked..

Checking Avast's report with what a browser and script detector can show is a way of proof.
