Site Upgrade caught by SE?

hi all,
I am currently working on a website. The site was there for a couple years already and it's listed on all major SE. However, it was poorly designed from every aspect. So right now I am building a new site for the company. It's 50% completed and I have swaped down the old site with the new one.

My question is when will SE, such as google notice the change? I know it should take a while since the old site was "inactive". Any one has an idea for a bottom line?

I also have another side question. Should I put a meta keyword tag on every single page of site, or just the homepage?

Probably at least a month before the whole site appears regularly in the results. However, depending on how often googlebot was visiting before, you may begin to see some new pages appearing off and on within a week.

Take a look at the statistics/log files from the old site. This may tell you how often you were getting Googlebot visits.

I had a PR 4 site that was inactive for about a year. When I did a major update in January, it was spidered within a week. I noticed hits to new pages very soon after, and the whole thing was in place with PR by late february.

One thing you can do is download the Google Toolbar, just do a search on it at Google and you will get to it. It has an advanced feature that allows you to view googles cache for a page. When you page has been reindexed by google, it will update its cache of the site. So by using the toolbay you can view googles cache. If the cache has not updated then the pages changes are not really effecting your listings.

google "spider" finally started to index some pages of my site. Although not completely, it's a start. One thing I noticed it's that there is no ranking (maybe 0 ranking) for those newly indexed page. =.=

One annoying problem remain is that the indexed pages from the old site are still there and those are all broken links now. Hope they will be gone soon.
