Handling Temporary Pages

They get indexed, and then they get removed

I have a few situations where temporary pages are created:
1. users submit pages on our forum that are then the thread is moved to a private forum.
2. Users submit jobs, but once they are complete or a developer is assigned, the job becomes hidden.

Any advice on how to handle such situations?

Another option is to change the text on the page rather than moving it. This will preserve the url for indexing, and give an incentive for readers join the private forum or subscribe.

Frank's response is a great idea, take advantage of that indexed page.

There are a lot of paid solution provider sites that will show a summary of a page or post that has been moved to a private area with a "Join Now to see the solution!" box dominating the page.

The keywords in the summary might be the text needed to attract a new member.
