Hi all,

I am facing a challenge here on what the best course of action is.

Problem, or at least the current situation. Doing some SEO work for one company and they have several domain names, each with keyword1location1.com or keyword2keyword3location4.com and various combinations of that.

The bossman at the company would like a simple one page site on each of those domains, listing the services, what they do, with links through to the main site all over these pages.

Bit like entry pages, but on seperate domains.

How people get to these domains, I dont know, but I'm guessing he thinks Google and other SE's will rank a domain name of keyword1location1.com at #1 when people search for "keyword1 location1".

I know a little about SEO, and as far as I know, this practise would of worked about 10 years ago, but not any more right?

Are there any advantages to doing this? Or is it better to simply 301 redirect all these domains to the main site? Again - what advantage is there to this, and how to explain this - I'm guessing that theres going to be no duplicate content penalty when doing this. Is there anything else?

Any advice welcome.
Thanks.
:)

Hi surrealillusions, well you may be right that it will probably not do much good this plan of your clients.

I would be tempted to say to the client, sure I will do it for you but I don't expect great results from it, if there are, I will eat my hat :-)

Then go ahead and do what the client wants, and see what happens.
