I have a testing website. First version was online November 2006. This version had a weak internal structure. High number pages would be classified as spam. Nevertheless this version got a nice number of links.. including from Dmoz ;-) It got few traffic from main search engines. Google just sent traffic to around 12 pages, Yahoo same, MSN/LIVE no traffic.
New version online, same content but with good internal structure, and no problem with redirect links from directories, etc. have been online since May 2008 However it lost the few traffic from all search engines including Google since November 2008.
General information:
Website subject: travel
No. pages: 750 pages
Home Page Rank: 5 but few pages have page rank (so it can indicate that the rest of pages are considered spaming).
Articles content including links to web site's authors. These links are evaluated to avoid spaming links.
I've checked the following aspects:
Internal liks – OK
Metatags – OK
External links – More than 140 links. Some links to internal website pages. No spaming. These numbers of links have been increased proportional and they are not ring links. No links interchanges program.
No similar website with same content and same structure.
No Google Map XML
Google Webmaster reports better keywords distribution and more external links since last week (they are connected with new version online since May 2008)
The site has a weak: some duplicate content (articles available in different websites)
Any idea? Is this website penalized for all search engines? Why?
When you do a search for your domain name, example.com, is your website listed first?
It is a quite interest questions. I lost all traffic from search engines. I was getting traffic from about 14 keyword (google) before November. Page 1. I lost all these position after November. Actually some of these keyword are far than 10 pages.
