Hi,

I have a page about Yahoo which is ranked well for that term, but the page also links to another page about Google in the related pages section. Now when someone searches for yahoo, Google lists the Yahoo page and highlights the Google part (from the related section) in the page that is titled Yahoo!

So the SERP shows:

ALL about Yahoo
...about Google, a great search engine...
www.example.com/yahoo/

Obviously, the user skips over it...

Is there any way that we can instruct the spiders to ignore/not index a certain part of the document?

Specifically I want to exclude the related items from being indexed. Earlier I tried to use javascript document.write to write the related pages html, but now it seems that the spiders have been able to read javascript results for a while!

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Have you written a meta description? With Google you've got a very good chance of that replacing the snippet.
