Getting Traffic to a Content Site

I have a website that is almost 1 year old and I am getting around 20 visitors per day. I have submitted it to the Search Engines via traffic blazer with Godaddy. It does have a Google PR of 5 now. For some reason the last three months my traffic has leveled out and is not increasing. I have recently added a page share to like pages so I can put fresh content on the site. Example would be all of my pages having to do with credit cards have a page share tip of the day, budgeting pages have a page share tip of the day. Do the Search Engines pick up changes made on page shares and consider it fresh content.

Thanks, Steve

20 visitors per day is quite good. But keep on updating your site because google likes the fresh content.

Make sure that you're using RSS feeds and Sitemaps that are automatically updated as soon as your feed updates too - and that your feeds are submitted to lots of feed directories.

What other type of promotion have you done?

My site is 5 months old and gets about 450 avg per day with about 1200 page views...
The things that helped: in the beginning I found a "relevant" way to put my link on wiki..(that only lasts so long untill some bozo removes it)
that got a good amount of traffic..and it continues because people copy and paste it..link included, into there own websites.

The second most helpfull thing was finding relevant forums and posting links to the content...not the main page, back links to the site..this after first being a contributing member first..and also posting other links so not to be a spammer.

third in traffic is googles forums..again the word "relevant"..but there is traffic there.
Also posting on netscape/diggs..just about every catagory is there..hint..first make friends there.

This all assumes you have the time to invest..

Some might see this as spamming...But I disagree..It's promoting a website.

Ps..I'm here looking for new ideas...I think the trick is to just keep plugging away...

Writing articles (ezinearticles) and submitting to directories (try submiteaze) can drive lots of traffic and appear in many search engines. Email Marketing can be cheap and very effective. Lastly an affiliate program.
