whats your best piece of SEO work? - by that i mean rank, number of competing pages and the PR of the page. Anyone can get number 1 with a PR of 8 and only 10,000 competing pages... :)
I have a number 4 of 1.6 million, pr 5 - only ok - but not bad considering the PR...
howz about you guys? What are you most proud of?

the best we had was for a three word phrase which we had 16 out of the top 20, before we got slighty burnt ;)(well like a forest fire still hold the top 3 slots, we had #1 out of 4,670,000 for 8 months until it got burnt.

I have another page that ranks #2 out of 591,000 results, it gets a suprising number of hits, i had no idea it would be such a popular search term.
#1 out of 7.1 no/little traffic
#1 out of 25,000 gets us £30,000 per month in orders.
It's not always a numbers game, single keywords are cool, but a lot of surfers know what they want....
example only: I want a new car, I don't type in car, maybe the manufacturer + car or model + car.
like Hotels who searches for Hotels, No one it's to hit and
miss I want an hotel in New York not one somewhere in the world.
Don't get me Wrong, an SEO worth there salt will aim for that one keyword so they can hang 2 and 3 word searches off it, aim low to start with and build, build, build.

Question: With geo-targeting, how can we compare positions? Maybe we have several members who are #1 for the same keyword.
The other is #1 out of 4,140,000 for a two word money phrase we'd all like to have this time of year, was PR6 but now high end PR5. Funny thing, that was a small one time job a year and a half ago and it's held fast ever since. Never had to touch it again.
That second one's my all time favorite, it's got the secondary phrases too, and loads of little ones. Went up to 4 gig of bandwidth a month.
Both are pretty much across the board, not just Google. Neither belongs to me, I'm gonna have to find me some STUFF to sell. :)

No 13 (top 10 for one year) - two word travel term - 1,870,000 results at G - two inbounds showing at marketleap for AV only - PR2 on Google TB - no G inbounds
#1 for for all related keyword searches for niche market "widgets" out of about 15,000.
And I love it that way - it's all beautifully targeted traffic and we are exactly what those searchers are looking for. So they find us and they *stay*.
I'm with 2_much though - it's about having a balanced portfolio of sites (if this is really what you want to do for a living), some in niche industries, some in highly competitive industries and a few in between. Use your skills on all of them and with a bit of luck you'll find a decent balance and hopefully you'll get a cheque every month without too many void periods.

I beat 4 .edu sites all with at least a PR5
Several other sites that rank #1 out of a couple of million for a couple of keywords.

The best I can offer is #4 out of 1.7 million, with a PR of 6 (i had to change browsers to check that, i hope you're happy :))
