whats your best piece of SEO work? - by that i mean rank, number of competing pages and the PR of the page. Anyone can get number 1 with a PR of 8 and only 10,000 competing pages... :)

I have a number 4 of 1.6 million, pr 5 - only ok - but not bad considering the PR...

I have a number one for a PR0 site that went live last Sunday. On "New Zealand" and 2-word plural product type (12,300 results), number 2 for the sigular form (84,700 results). Company name which is a descriptive phrase number 2 (2,220,000 results). I got 4 incoming links. Also 17 of 244,000 for product type (no geographic limit)

I'm have no idea what the reult I mentioned earlier is really worth. I'm charging $NZ300 (a bit more than $US150). I know I spent far more time. Some of that was working on a CMS (far from finished) and producing great valid HTML, some was getting a CSS layout to work, and some was writing copy because they didn't provide usable copy, and a little was getting just a couple of useful links. So was I just lucky, or did I use some real skills?

I'm no SEO'r, but I do have a 3kw phrase that ranks 13th, out of 2,880,000 results, with a PR of 2. And the site is listed in a different google directory than most of it's competition. <underbreath>I think I need to fix that one.</underbreath>

2 word phrase PR4. Depending on which data center you look at it is anywhere from 3mil to 4mil results. Hard to tell right now since things are so weird. Was number 1 for 3 weeks now number 2 on 2 of the dataceners the rest I am number one on.

Well, i just created a two word phrase that will get me top ranking in 45,200,000 results with little effort. It's nothing about being good, as it's not as hard as it sounds - this oddball phrase is not really relevant to anyone i think, and i wouldn't really know what to do with such a page.

I have a #5 of 7.5M for a real two word phrase - it's a PR3 page. That's okay i think, especially as it's the company name and URL for #1 and 2. (pages about a well known virus are #3 and 4 - totally unrelated). Now, the funny thing is that SEO is not the only thing i do. That page is about my core business (which, in Danish, is the two-word phrase) and i don't even have a link on it to my company page *lol* ...i'll just go and thange that right away i think ;)

Anyway, the one i like best is a page that's topping the 3.2M serps for a certain phrase. This is SEO. Using a few words it's not a very difficult one but it's deliberately targeted (it's not the only target) and it's such a killer phrase. Anytime i hear that common phrase i can't help thinking about who's #1 on it and why. No, no details.

In that thread, WebGuerrilla mentions #6 out of around 42M for a one-worder. Well, here's an update:

Well, my #5 of 7.5M is right now #5 of anything between 2,400,000 and 16,200,000 depending on datacenter [webmasterworld.com]. I haven't touched that page yet, so it's obviously not me getting better or worse.

Imho, the total number of results is a poor measure of anything but Google's own skills, especially as Google never displays more than 1000 anyway.

The best one-worder I've ever had is #4 out of 35 million on Google UK. But that site had absolutely everything working in it's favour. I mean everything you could possibly think of that helps with high rank, that site had it. It just needed someone who knew what they were doing to capitalise on it. So of course, I take full credit ;)

On Google.com that worked out at #46 (IIRC) out of 200 million. That's the trouble with working with .co.uk and UK hosted stuff. You just get swamped. :(

erm I dont do many 1 word terms. I dont feel there are that many single words that pay for my clients, two words there are many that I think are important for them .. depends what you are selling I guess.

I am quite pleased with that even though its not the most competitive or commercial .. the page in position 1 has PR 5/10 & 120 backlinks

my page only has pr3 but for many other more commercially important terms pages from that site are in position 1 at this moment with similar lowly PR.

fwiw those pages were intended for a UK audience so ranking well in the .com index is a bonus.
