Just thought I would add my comments and experiences on this topic.

I run an seo company here in the UK and have a client who had a flash site only (of which the index page had been listed but no Yahoo directory listing) and didn't want to pay for any submissions. I created content rich html pages to compliment the flash site and submitted for free.

A month later they had 29 top ten listings on the keywords I had chosen for them and after 3 months 69 top tens. These included AlltheWeb, Altavista, Hotbot, AOL, AskJeeves, Teoma, Excite, Looksmart, Lycos, MSN, Overture, Yahoo and a couple of listings in Google.

The point I am trying to make here is that in this case at least (and it could be a fluke) I never paid a penny!

Maybe there's hope for all my clients sites!

Good luck with your free submissions!

I presume you were paid for your efforts - if not, you can do some free work for me. ;)

Good to hear you've had some success.

If you havent already, you might like to read this interesting discussion about successful flash sites. [webmasterworld.com]

yes, I was paid for my efforts! I have a mortgage to pay :)

And from now on I am recommending submitting for free to all my clients unless they are in a hurry, if after 3 months it hasn't worked, then they pay. Obviously the only one they have to pay for immediately is Yahoo Directory.

Thanks for the link :)

Yahoo listing also depends on the category and some categories are still there for FREE.

Google Dance being continous now does the job and we dont see the same results for weeks till the google dance runs again. So everything seems to be good now and google is working on indexing on all kinds of contents in a proper manner.

Recently it indexed phpbb....so all is going good...
