I am trying to figure how the popularity of different search engines are evolving.

So I looked at my logs and compared the search engine hits over a period of 5 months.

--------03Jan-----03Feb-----03Mar-----03Apr-----03May
-----------------------------------------------------------
Google--2982/63%--2407/62%--2462/61%--2220/63%--5860/70%
Yahoo---887/19%---785/20%---834/21%---710/20%---1205/14.5%
MSN-----218/5%----302/8%----434/11%---443/13%---1036/12.5%
Ask-----327/7%----182/5%----100/2%----4/0%------3/0%
AOL-----133/3%----110/3%----164/4%----94/3%-----126/1.5%
AltaV.--137/3%----61/1%-----49/1%-----41/1%-----101/1.5%
-----------------------------------------------------------
Total---4684------3847------4043------3512-------8331

Anybody care to share his/her logs? Maybe we can predict the future of search engine world.

Thanks, Abraham

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Abraham!

Log files alone only tell part of the story. If your position changes (moves up or down) then naturally, the number of referrers to your site should change, as well.

Nice idea, but I'm afraid my numbers essentially mirror yours, with the exception of the 'falling popularity of ASK' from what I see, they are rising in stature.
