My client runs a very popular blog. Their previous tech guy left without moving their feedburner account to Google.

Now they can't access their feedburner account (e.g. lost password/username). They want to use the email feature of Feedburner, but cannot because they cannot access the account.

My questions are:

1 - Can they just create a new Google feedburner account and burn a new feed?

2 - If they create a new feed, what will happen to the old feedburner account which they assume now has thousands and thousands of subscribers? Can they just leave it as is? Will it still continually update?

Thanks

If the feed was never moved from FeedBurner to a Google account I believe you can just claim it. Otherwise you'd need to talk to Google to get them to associate the feed with your Google account.
