I have been successfully running RSS feeds to a sales suite on 1 of my sites for about 11 months now. The thing worked flawless so i never really gave it another thought. The pages generated from the feeds were indexed well by the search engines, people began to shop and the sales commisions were applied directly into my PayPal
Yes it was a perfect world.
Then everything dropped off like a rock. host1 the company I have a server lease with says they have restricted port 7780. they tell me they always have restricted port 7780 and i would have to increase my server lease cost by 500% to a dedicated server to recieve RSS feeds through port 7780
Host2 the company releasing the RSS feed claims they have not changed a thing. they have always use port 7780 to retrieve the RSS feed from my site to their servers.
Now host1 offers this alternative
The other alternative would be to serve the RSS feeds from a page on the default port 80 via dynamic output on said page

Because the sales suite had been working flawlessly for a period of 11 months recieving RSS feeds from another server on the web through port 7780. I convinced them the sudden disrruption of my sales suite through the restriction of port 7780 was the cause of finacial loss and liquidated damages could apply
the sales suite started working shortly there after
