Help with Magpierss RSS Feed

I have the Magpierrs with smarty all set up. Works great but can't truncate the description or control the amount of listings I get.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

The Magpie FAQ has a section that seems to answer your question, at least in part:

Limit the number of headlines (aka items) returned. [magpierss.sourceforge.net]

You can truncate the length of the description using PHP substr() function.

For instance, if print($description) prints the description, then print(substr($description, 0, 30)) will print out just the first 30 characters.
