how many are to many

ok well i just began adding feeds to a feed section in my site i also have a ticker on the frontpage i figure this way if i dont give my visitors what they want i can atleast help them out and maybe they will comeback for the same thing but i wondering how many sites should i syndicate so far i have 6 should i go up to 20 or what (keep in mind its a seperate section of my site

I would pay close attention to your load times and make sure that adding feeds is not slowing your site down too much.

One suggestion would be to have main stories then "news sections" on various topics, entertainment, world news, etc...and have a page for each with headlines on that.

Instead of throwing everything at them on the home page, give them choices, take them to another interior page, then let them see some ads, some news topics and let them choose where to click. Hopefully they will read and come back and read another.

If you want to get fancy let them customize what topics they would like to appear on your home page, making it a unique/sticky experience for them, which would turn into more page view$ for you.

yes i have put the feeds in a different section but the ticker is on almost all the pages including the homepage ive actually found some good feeds like virus alerts

a website that has content can put all or some of that content in an xml document, since i assume most of you will believe i dont own cnn (i wish though) there is an example

[rss.cnn.com...]
then a person who would like to add this info to there site do so i have a ticker at the top of my page that has 9 feeds and 3 articles a piece (yea it does take a while to cycle through) stuff like viru alerts and tech news stuff viewers of my site would be interested in

I also have my own feed so people may my articles to there site
