I have been trying to learn more about RSS

I am a mktg / biz dev guy w/ the HTML skills of a 10 year old :) So RSS is a tough curve for me.

This forum has been really good - but a low volume of posting for who "hot" RSS is . . .

I was reading something about RSS feeds recently. Are they basically news feeds. Does using RSS, with the intention to setting up an AM site, mean that you are basicaly pigeonholed into creating a news-related site?

An RSS feed does not have to specifically be for news, for instance I could make an RSS feed on my site about poetry…and it could have a daily poem…it would not be news as much as up to date content.

Wait...so let me get this straight. A RSS feed is something that YOU push out or something that you import to your site? From what I've been hearing, I was under the impression from the A/M section that the feeds were being used to create links and drive traffic TO sites. Am I wrong in thinking that?

It can be both...someone has to publish an rss feed so you could be on either the side of publishing, or the side of displaying.

In order to publish, many people use a blogging system that automaticaly updates a feed when new content is posted.

In order to publish other peoples feeds you need some sort of software on your webserver, a few are described in here:

For good success with affiliate marketing, a good strategy will be to start a blog and make posts with your review. You can make multiple posts, each focussing on one aspect of the product you are pushing.

Mention the biggest benefit of the product/ebook in your first post and provide the affiliate link. In the next post, explain one big benefit. Don't just cut and paste from the merchant site. You have to show your personality. Give your comments, tell us how it helps us to improve our business or whatever. Show screenshots, your results and like. Include the link to the main sales page or order link from each post.
