How Important is a Site Map

Hi

I use Google analytics and have the analytics script on each of my web pages as required. When ever I upload or edit a page I always click on it on the internet to see if its running correctly.

Google will know I do this because of the analytics script on the page.

Since Google now knows the page exit, do I need to create and upload a sitemap..

A sitemap can help to maybe get indexed faster and for Google to find all your pages. If this is an orphan page (no links to it), it won't matter, as it might not get found.

A sitemap generally does not help pages get indexed faster. It allows webmasters to help search engines find pages to possibly index. This can benefit sites that have alot of indexable content that is behind javascript or other indexing roadblocks. Search engines prefer to index pages that are highly linked.
