For those who stay at the MGM during Pubcon...
It has its pros and cons for regular PubCon'ers:
Cons -> huge place. Think twice before you leave the room or you have to walk MILES!
Bars are pretty crowed. Everything is packed, noisy and distracting. In room: the WiFi is OK but slow.
Mail and browsing works just fine, but Port 25 for outgoing emails is obviously blocked!
Look up a different port with your mail provider. West Wing: rooms are kind of loveless, but OK. You will hear your neighbors! I have moved into the main tower today.
Main tower: rooms are worn down but MUCH quieter!
On the strip: While Wynn/TI/Trump have the huge fashion show mall around them, you have to go further distances here to switch place, buy anything, etc.
If you are looking for a datacard/sim for your phone: there is no place in reach in the MGM!
Pros: The monorail station is a pretty good and fast way to get to the convention center and back.
The facilities are good. SPA is good, cardio workout room is free - last words about it: get your water from the vending machines or go for a little shopping tour on arrival to stock up water.... like others said: do get hydrated like there is no tomorrow.
