We have been experiencing an enormous amount of ppc clicks lately (a term that usually would get 5-6 hits a day, gets 600...). Terms change from day to day, but it's obvious that the amount of hits terms get are very abnormal. This problem has been going on for a couple of weeks now. We are a small company, but a leader in that part of an online industry. We have a suspicion that one of our competitors has something to do with the above problem.
We have contacted Overture on a number of occasions within the past few weeks (we are a platinum member). When we point out these obviously ridicules numbers to an Overture reps., they refund us some amounts of money. They have also sent us logs with IP addresses. When we sort by IP addressed, we can clearly see that there is fraudulent activity, but we're unsuccessful tracing the addresses as they are most likely spoofed.
Recently, the amount of clicks increased so much, that our credit cards were maxed out and Overture took our campaign offline! When asked why they can't prevent it on the first place instead of having us constantly monitor the campaign and call them to request refunds, we get inconclusive answers... This is becoming a huge problem for us... When we ask our overture rep if we should get our attorney involved, the answer we get is pretty much: "sure, whatever".
Any suggestions at this point will be more than appreciated!
Thanks much guys,
Frustrated Overture PPC customer
