ROTFALOL ..
I am also curious as to how they will determine what ads show and when. Will they use their current base of advertisers? Or will current advertisers have the opportunity to opt out if you do not want to be part of it? I am anxious to see the preliminary results and see if this catches on.
If you have a site about Blue widgets and a number of registered members interested in blue widgets i cant see any issue sending the members their email newsletter with sponsored adverts on it.
If the member wants more detail they click on the links. How is this any different to using a search engine to get to a sponsored site?
Finally, of the clients that we work with that use MIVA i understand they are strict regarding the application of this - also, its only available i understand to sites producing a high return on sponsored adverts already so its not going to go out to two bit sites that are into spamming.
two bit sites that are into spamming.
Just 24 hours ago I ran a check for someone on if their software was being offered as warez ..90% of all "fake search engine" or "shopping engine" or "get your cracks and serials here" .."come on page" landing sites for the term were offering click throughs..laid out as "serps" ..from guess who?..miva and their partners ..
the side ads ..laid out like adsense ..went via Miva system to the next daisy in the chain ..
I'm amazed the UK authories haven't visited their accomodation address offices long before now ..their sort of business model was not allowed when I last lived in the UK .
Miva certainly don't want to throw in the towel and I applaud that.
It may appear like that on the surface but behind the scenes there's some heavy scrambling going on in San Diego.
Here's a MSNBC link to an eye opener:

This proves they'll sign up anyone to appear to be a big network - but my point is the network is seriously untargeted and low quality, and that's why the traffic is so bad. They pay peanuts in commissions and wonder why they don't get any good SE's joining their network.
When we launched direct our selves into the US we opened a Findwhat account and it swallowed money, terrible reporting and showed our top spending keyword was a word not even in our account. As you can imagine we didnt keep that account open long. Findwhat seemed to have a poor quality network. With any old website allowed in. I am currently not a MIVA user at my new place and stick to O and G.
I am concerned that the quality of the click throughs will be low. In Google's adsense I find it iss not as good as their site in terms of conversion. So, MIVA going a step further, in emails aswell!?! Who knows, I trust they have tested this and have some quality control processes in place.
It will be interesting to see a message come to my gmail account. There may be more ads that content!
I hope it works out and if it does I will give them another chance. A.
That would really annoy me big time..........
I guess people must use them as they are still about - not that 'being' on the web means a site makes a good living...... I'm thinking that since this merger of theirs, maybe a ton of new business went their way.
Does anyone think they make a lot of money still, or are they just barely surviving?
