The stunningly feminine fan base could be a telling proxy for Pinterest’s actual user base, which totals over 10.4 million considering that’s how many users follow the official “Pinterest” account.

That's some staggering numbers in the article and amazingly gender specific.

I've heard from several people who found early-on that Pinterest was a great vehicle for their particular market. This one promises to be quite a ride!

I think my wife has the perfect description for Pinterest - as used currently, it is "online scrapbooking" and fashion shopping bookmarks.

I think it's fair to say those uses trend female.

Pinterest is more realistically at an 80%+ female user base, however it is still overwhelmingly female, and a great opportunity for people who target that particular market.
