I'm a fairly savvy browser user, but for the life of me I can't find a way to update the new Opera 15 browser other than manually downloading a new copy. I don't see notifications of a newer version being available, I don't see a "check for updates option", and unlike Chrome it doesn't upgrade automatically. What am I missing?

Opera 15?

I just opened Opera to test updating because I had been having problems with it. It updated to 12.16. Checked for more updates and it said I have the latest.

12.16 still works normally and I know how to update that. Opera 15 [webmasterworld.com] is their new Chromium powered browser.

Oh, wait. If it's built on a whole new rendering engine does that mean it has to be downloaded from scratch, because there's nothing to update?

That would actually be good news, because it should mean you can pretty easily keep both versions on the same computer.

:: detour to check my own version ::

Yup, same "You are using the latest..." message over here.

:: closer look at fine print ::

This software includes data provided by The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

What the bleep bleep?!

Sorry, didn't know about that new browser.

Their help section for Opera 15 is not very helpful.

[help.opera.com...]

Wonder why my 12.16 didn't say hey, have you looked at our new browser.

I do run both versions...I prefer 12.16, but wanted to be current on 15.

15 is not quite ready, imo - but they promise that bookmarks will be back very soon
