"Fixed an extremely severe issue; details will be disclosed at a later date."
The issue seems to exist in the Windows and Mac versions.

This one snuck up on me today.
I guess they're waiting until everyone has had a chance to update before they release the details of the fix. It must have been pretty bad. I don't recall them doing this before.

Mine updated automatically to 10.54 this morning! However, I'm pretty sure that during the last install I checked (or unchecked?) the box to disable 'automatic' updates?! And I can not find any reference to (automatic)updates in preferences? It's never auto-updated before. Is this update so serious that the user has no choice in the matter? (Or is it just me?)

You must have checked something. I had a machine automatically update, but I remember setting that one. My main work machine had to be updated manually.

@penders it is under Preferences > Advanced > Security
I also got the automatic update, but don't recall setting updates to automatic either... Not 100% sure about that, though.

Thanks, mine had (somehow) been set to 'Automatically install updates'. I've changed it back to 'Notify me...', after getting auto updated again to 10.60!
